Overview

Explore the fundamentals of teaching through an integrated programme that encompasses both university and school-based training.

Your Training Mentor will observe you regularly during school training, and provide personalised feedback to enable you to succeed as a teacher.

Entry requirements

In order to apply you'll need to have completed, or be in the final year of a UK degree (or an equivalent qualification). You’re required to have a good honours degree or above in Mathematics or a related subject with at least 50% suitable Maths content. In addition you need A-Level Maths. You'll also need GCSE passes at grade 4/C or above (or recognised equivalents) in English and mathematics. In addition, for some Secondary programmes you are also required to have an A-level in the subject. If you want to teach Maths but are unsure if you have the necessary subject knowledge then you may be recommended to take the Mathematics Subject Knowledge Enhancement course. This is a 28-week intensive course which aims to develop a deep understanding of all school Mathematics with the potential to teach up to A-level standard.
