The university has a diverse range of courses that offer a unique insight to a student’s subject area, access to cutting-edge research and the opportunity to learn and develop with industry-standard facilities.
The university has two campus sites located in Bath, both inspiring locations that are immersed in the history of the region. Newton Park brings together 12th Century and Georgian architecture, tastefully fusing them with modern learning spaces. Meanwhile, the Locksbrook Campus is found on the banks of the River Avon in the centre of the city, with open plan buildings, cutting edge studios and contemporary social areas.
For filmmaking students, the Paintworks complex in Bristol is just a short journey away by train and allows students to develop in a bespoke space with a clear disciplinary, amongst the vibrant cultural scene of the city.
Bath is a world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, awash with history dating as far back as the Roman times. Archaeological treasures, impressive Georgian townhouses and plenty of bars, restaurants and event spaces dot the city. Students can travel to Bristol within 20 minutes or to London in under 90 minutes, making it an outstanding base for arts, culture, career opportunities and more.

Postgraduate courses at Bath Spa range across dozens of subjects, from commercial music to children’s publishing and creative computing.
As a future focused university, Bath Spa has developed a range of distance learning courses for postgraduate students. Through this, learners can take their career or academic expertise to the next level from the comfort of their own home, allowing them to meet their other life commitments. Online tutorials and lectures are just as good as face-to-face, and digital learning tools and workshops make learning remotely a deep experience. Support is always on hand, too.
Taught master’s students can pursue a number of qualification types including LLM, MA, MBA, MSc, PGCE, PGCert and PGDip. Postgraduate research students can work towards PhD, EdD and other doctoral qualifications in collaboration with leading academics.
Entry onto a postgraduate programme at Bath Spa University is subject to meeting the specified entry requirements for a student’s chosen course. The university and its departments may set admissions criteria that relate to academic and professional qualifications or experience, as well as interview or assessment performance in some cases.
Students applying to the MA in Scriptwriting, for example, will typically be expected to be committed and self-motivated writers who have experience of writing scripts – though not necessarily produced ones. An undergraduate degree in any subject area, with a good grade, is expected. Submission of relevant work and a personal statement is required during the application, as well as an interview.
Applicants for the PGCE in Secondary Computing will need to have an undergraduate degree or be expected to finish one imminently. This degree should be in computer science, or another area if five years of relevant experience in the computing industry can also be evidenced. GCSE grade C or above in English and Mathematics is also required.
Students can explore the full range of entry requirements on the university’s website, which can differ between courses and may change over time.
