Improving public health through the development of psychological interventions and behavioural strategies is a high priority on the political agenda and health psychology is a popular and expanding field; the programme allows students to understand health behaviours and develop their knowledge of how these can be shaped and altered; the programme has a particular focus on tackling health inequalities and working within diverse communities; there is also a focus on inter professional working.

Health Psychology in Theory and Contemporary Practice

This module explores the theoretical perspectives that inform the work of modern day health psychologists and discusses how these are applied in practice.

Mind, Body and Health

This module investigates the ways in which mind and body interact to affect health, and also explores the role of personality factors and social support.

Research Methods and Data Analysis for Applied Psychologists

This module introduces you to a range of ways of collecting, analysing, and presenting research data.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2.1 Honours degree from a BPS accredited psychology course (or international equivalent); successful applicants are required to attend an interview; enhanced DBS certificate and self declaration form are required, (international applicants are required to submit a criminal records certificate from their home country) in accordance with DMU's admissions policy; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
