Postgraduate Guildhall School Of Music And Drama reviews
MA in Music Therapy
Guildhall School Of Music And Drama
Ralitza, April 2009Overall score
Study experience
The course I have been attending since October 2007, is a two year MA in Music Therapy programme. During the first year, the lectures are four days a week, including one day of placement. The second year the students spend one day at college and two days on placement. The programme will suit young musicians who are looking for additional training as therapists. The content of the programme fully met my expectations and was well-balanced over the terms. There is a wide range of improvisation workshops as well as psychology and psiciatry input. The majority of the teaching staff had very professional stance and provided us with the needed support. We do have assignments and exams, and the first year felt quite busy in that aspect. However this year we have more free time to concentrate on our dissertations and clinical work.
Facilities
The college has two modern buildings and is sufficiently clean. It has all the facilities that are necessary. The students are entitled to instrumental tuition during the first year of the programme, which makes the course unique amongst other Music Therapy training programmes in the UK.
Postgraduate life
I have been pleased to go to college almost every time. SInce it is an art college, there are friendly people from all over the world. I think one can easily make firends, just as I did.
