MA Art History and/or Archaeology
School Of Oriental And African Studies (University Of London)
Tanja, December 2008Overall score
if the East is what you always wanted to explore, then do not hasitate, this is the best school for this type of study.
Study experience
learn how to manage your time and how to properly read all the readings teachers give you.
Facilities
Library is great, but it has a complicated system to find your way around. with time you conquer that too...Computers are some, could have more. Bars in and around the campus are numerous,no problem here. Sport...everyone can find something, if not at this uni then at several others in the neighbourhood.
Postgraduate life
Plenty of societies, mostly sport and country-oriented (Africa, Japan...), but some as well with different approach (food, sightseeing..).
Job prospects
The school in well known and has a good reputation, this should help with job prospects...otherwise, am a postgrad student and will probably try to work on some project and expand it into PhD.

Anthropology - Evolutionary Approaches to Cultural Anthropology and Archaeology MSc
University Of East London (Evolutionary Approaches To Cultural Anthropology And Archaeology)
Anon, May 2007Overall score
Study experience
The degree format works well to deliver a broad range of study and life skills, including, presentations, article writing skills, essays and research exercises. Staff are always enthused and experienced as well as being friendly and approachable. The subject matter is fascinating. An undergraduate degree in anthropology is not essential, but interest and dedication is.
Facilities
The university library has recently been re-sited and enlarged so no problems getting hold of a computer. The library itself has a fairly extensive anthropology section, books can alway be ordered if required. The library staff are polite and helpful.
Postgraduate life
Class sizes are small and the class itself is relaxed and informal. Teaching takes place in the evening and is often folowed by a trip (students and lecturers) to the uni bar. Students work together and frequently meet/ phone/ email each other for discussion based workshops.
