Only the best teach

PGCE Primary Education

Birmingham City University

Anon, October 2007

Overall score

Study experience

Birmingham City University (previously University of Central England - UCE) is a fantastic place to study. I decided to teach in Primary Education after years of teaching English abroad. I had travelled and enjoyed life and now wanted to bring up my son. Working as a teacher still allows me to travel and have fun with my son. The teachers were brilliant on this course. Apparently some of them are quite famous in their field of work. All I know is that they were all little boxes full of a lot of information useful to teaching and much more. The course has definitely prepared me to move on in my career.

Facilities

The classrooms are all fully equiped with interactive whiteboards and all of the modern technology expected at a professional institution. The student facilities are outstanding. There are two huge IT rooms accessible all day Mon - Fri until late. On site there is a restaurant that serves hot food up until 6.00pm.

Postgraduate life

The students on my course already had a degree. The youngest person was I guess around 21. However, the majority of students were people looking for a change in career. There were lawyers, surveyors, musicians, psychologists and many more people looking to teach. They were all extremely supportive. There were only a handful of men on this course.

8/10

Law Llb (Hons)

Birmingham City University

Shamraiz, November 2007

Overall score

UCE was a lively place, full of courses for all students. The SU bar was in need of a revamp but I guess it must have had a face lift by now.

Study experience

I enjoyed my course, this was due to the lecturers. Help always at hand, there was always someone that you could go to if you were unsure about something.

Facilities

The library and the computer room were fairly decent, you could always log onto a computer because there were loads of them.

Postgraduate life

There were quite a few, popular one was the drinking society.

Job prospects

Jobs prospects are good for those who achieve 2:1 or above, so if you work hard you won't be short of a job once you've graduated.
