Design (Textile Design) MA
University College Falmouth
Julliet, March 2010Overall score
Thoroughly enjoyed my year on the MA Design at Falmouth. I think of the experience as therapy in a luxery hotel. I loved being questioned on my designs and pushed further to see how far they could go.
Study experience
I liked the set up of the course and found most the lectures relevant. I would have enjoyed more textile concentrate but a year goes by so fast and before you know it we were out.
Facilities
Top notch facilities. Wish I had had more time to play with all the toys.
Postgraduate life
With a family I did not get much of a chance to experience postgrad afterlife. It may have been there but I did not look for it. I did enjoy the family related entertainment in Falmouth. Hard to keep up with the many festivals.
Job prospects
Is there prospects for any jobs at this time? This degree has enabled me to teach in a field that I am passionate about but as far as working within the textile design field, not so easy.

Art History And Theory Ma
University Of Essex
Marianna, November 2007Overall score
It was very isolated. Good for people who like peace and quiet. The town has enough to do to keep you occupied for a while and at least its not a long train ride to London. The campus is naturally beautiful, pond, grass, geese but the buildings are ugly. People try to be helpful.
Study experience
Facilities
I was not impressed wit hthe art book collection and needed to go elsewhere to do my research.
Postgraduate life
They are very enthusiastic but I was not a member.

Art and Design - Secondary PgCert
Northumbria University
Loaded, April 2008Overall score
The problem here is Northumbria University seems to suffer from all the problems that a 'new' university is renound for. Courses filled to the brim with students ('pile them high, sell them cheap' as my friend would say). Tutors who are so oversubscribed that one-to-one discussions are a rarity. Results which are continually delayed. Essays which aren't marked properly. I could go on.
Study experience
Facilities
When the computers aren't hogged by people who shouldn't even be in the building it's OK I guess.
Postgraduate life
Tried to join a few of the uni societies in the second year. I was given contacts but no one got back to me. Annoying.
Job prospects
They're good - so I hear. I haven't looked at the job market yet so I can't really comment.
