Postgraduate Education / Training / Learning (Theory) reviews

My review

Primary (3-7 years) PGCE

York St John University

Susan, May 2008

Overall score

Great uni and great location. It's a small uni so you know everyone and the lecturers. The bad point is that there are rubbish ents.

Study experience

I have over 30 hours a week and most of the lecturers are great!

Facilities

Good library and computers but not enough books!

Postgraduate life

They have lots of clubs but I am not part of any - am very busy lady!

Job prospects

Postgrad so yes, courses for primary PGCE.

Excellent courses, challenging work

Education MA

Open University (The)

Bayley, September 2008

Overall score

independent study, and yet so well supported throughout. Good contact with other students, you are not alone!!

Study experience

Some material is more challenging than others, some course tutors are more helpful than others... but that just makes it more like a traditional university :)

Facilities

Luckily i live near main Open University campus so can use library etc. However the online library is excellent for students worldwide

Postgraduate life

There are clubs and groups you can join, many are online where you can chat and discuss topics of interest, but there are also some which meet up and do things too :)

Job prospects

The OU has a fantastic reputation among employers. The courses are known to be challenging, and the fact most students are working as well as studying part time shows a character and commitment than other universities cannot offer you.

Old York New St John's!

Primary (5-11 years) PGCE (Professional)

York St John University

Zoe, May 2008

Overall score

Great atmosphere on campus, helpful staff - they made my degree years easier, I could go to them with any problems. The uni has a family feel and it's a great city.

Study experience

My advice is organise yourself and keep loads of notes and make sure they are up to date!

Facilities

They have a great library, I can spend loads of time in there quite happily. They have great computer access, never any problems in logging on.

Postgraduate life

sports clubs seem very popular.

Job prospects

I'm going to teach, so as I knew what I was doing it's been easy getting advice.
