Postgraduate Law reviews
Sports LLM
De Montfort University
Steph, January 2008Overall score
University was a massive eye opener, I came from a small town, to a uni full of people I didn't know. I would definitely recommend it to others. My advice would be not to be afraid of the unknown or the debt. It's all worth it. The uni has recently been refurbished and is now looking fantastic and really appealling.
Study experience
I enjoyed it, I found it interesting, there is room for improvement with the tutors I had as the were not always available.
Facilities
The new library and good computer facilities are excellent. New sports hall!
Postgraduate life
Sports clubs - hockey! Still friends with the majority of people I met through hockey at uni (even bought a house with 2, we still socialise!!)
Job prospects
Because it was such an open degree, I have struggled with what to do.

Law LLM
University Of Surrey
Jenny, March 2009Overall score
Surrey was my insurance choice and I really wasn't keen to go but I couldn't have been more wrong! I love it now and i'm so pleased I didn't get into my first choice! The campus is gorgeous with lots of grass and a lake which you definetly appreciate when it's sunny! Also everything is on campus so you never really need to leave.
The nightlife in Guildford town is abit rubbish to be honest but the union is really good! Most people go out mondays, wednesdays (sometimes thursdays) and fridays. At the union they put on tons of themed nights, drinks and entry are also lots cheaper than anything in town.
Study experience
The course overall has been well structured and there has been alot of support. There are a few foreign lectures with strong accents which I found hard to understand at first but you soon get used to it. I currently only have 12 hours contact time but have to do at least double that if not more in my own time, which is mainly reading.
I'm actually doing Law LLB but for some reason it doesn't like that in the drop down meuni thingy above!
Facilities
Haven't had any problems so far. Library is open 24/7 during exam periods and pretty long opening hours throughout the rest of the year. Lots of computers around and plenty of plug-ins for laptops in the library. Wi-fi throughout library and also in nearly all of the other academic buildings (lecture theatres, tutorial rooms etc)
The gym on campus is quite old at the moment but a huge new one is being built off campus due for completion 2012. That's going to have an olympic size pool, massive gym, outdoor floodlit picthes and an astrotuf.
Postgraduate life
There's quite a wide range of socities and clubs avaliable and there seem to be new ones developing all the time!
Job prospects
Most courses here take a placement year which is supposed to be very good for job prospects. The careers advice team are very strong and extremely helpful. Being so close to London is also useful as it is convinient to meet companies/potential employers etc

Overall score
If you want to travel by car you must get in the car parks by 820 for decent space, you wont get one by 9 am as it will be full. the police regulary give parking tickets (£30 fine) and parking nearby is a joke. You could have arguments with the parking S.S. who love giving orders and winding students up.
Study experience
Thought I might be treated as an adult instead of like kids but what the hay!
Facilities
Best buy your own books and study at home with your freinds.
Postgraduate life
Ours is ok but we put the effort in which explains why we are the biggest (and only one)
Job prospects
found out too late not many people have heard of the uni
