Postgraduate reviews

FULL OF HOPE

PRIMARY EDUCATION

Liverpool Hope University

Ryan, April 2009

Overall score

I REALLY ENJOYED MY TIME AT HOPE AND EVEN THOUGH I LEFT AFTER MY SECOND YEAR I DONT REGRET A SINGLE SECOND OF IT. I LEFT BECAUSE I FAILED THE YEAR THROUGH TOO MUCH DRINKING!

Study experience

MY COURSE WAS FINE I LOVED THE REGULAR PLACEMENTS BUT I JUST DIDNT GIVE THE ESSAYS THE ATTENTION THEY NEEDED, WHICH PROVED MY DOWNFALL IN THE END AND I PACKED IT IN, WHICH IS A REGRET.

Facilities

WELL THE LIBRARY WASNT MY STRONG POINT HENCE ME FAILING 2ND YEAR BUT I NEVER STRUGGLED WHEN I TRIED AND THE GYM WAS CHEAP TO USE AND VERY GOOD STANDARD.

Postgraduate life

JOINED A SWIMMING CLUB IN FIRST YEAR BUT IT WASNT ACTIVE FOR SECOND, DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THERE BUT ID RECOMMEND JOINING A CLUB THAT INTERESTS YOU BECAUSE YOU'LL MEET PEOPLE WITH THINGS IN COMMON WITH YOU.

Job prospects

WELL SINCE I PACKED IT IN I'VE SINCE PERSUED A DIFFERENT CAREER. BUT I KEEP IN CONTACT WITH MY OLD HOUSEMATES AND THEY ALL SEEM TO BE DOING GOOD FOR THEMSELVES SINCE GRADUATION!

Great course- terrible students.

Primary Education (Key Stages 1-2, 5-11) PGCE

Liverpool Hope University

Hannah, December 2009

Overall score

If you don't wanna spend your time getting outrageously drunk every night, don't go near this place. If you do- this place is for you. Warning to prospective teacher training students- you will be on placement with 5.30am wake ups and people will be bashing on your door stopping you sleeping. You'll get left out cos people who do other courses have more time to go out at night when you're either working or sleeping for placement!

Study experience

I'll admit it, the course was excellent. They get you on placement from the second week for one morning a week. Far better from the other uni's I know. Only problem is this four year thing... the extra year isn't necessary and is its only drawback. The tutors are very supportive and there are some oustanding lecturers (and poor lecturers too)

Facilities

The library is good but could do with more computers. For teachers, there is a whole section with teaching resources, which is very useful! Forget the students union, its appalling. I thought i had walked into some poor-quality cafe when i first went in...let alone the main su place! It's very small and the IT is constantly down, cutting out your internet access!

Postgraduate life

Forget it... they're useless. THey have basketball, football, tennis and netball and you may as well forget the rest cos no-one shows up. There is hardly enough for a full team in each anyway, although a friend of mine is in the hockey team and they're doing very well.

Job prospects

It's known as the weaker of the liverpool uni's but has a good reputation for teaching which is why I went.
