University Of Kent
Kim, December 2008Overall score
UKC is a great place and has so many societies and clubs that making friends is easy! My piece of advice would be to find a club that you'll enjoy and join up!
Study experience
I never thought too much about what my course would be like, but now that I'm on it I love it! The work is tough, but worthwhile. My advice would be if you have a problem, don't be afraid to talk to your tutor or lecturer. They never judge you, and are always happy to help!
Facilities
The library is huge and lecturers will generally tell you the classification for any recommended texts so that you can go to the library instead of buying them. Every college has at least one computer room, as do most of the other buildings (including the library). Every college also has a bar, and there is also one in the self-catering part of the uni, as well as our own nightclub. We have a large sports hall that caters to any kind of sport you can imagine!
Postgraduate life
Anything and everything you can think of, we have a club for! Really. There are political, sports, media, music, history and literature clubs to name just a few! We definitely have enough clubs to cater for everyone's needs. I am a member of the Anime Society, as well as being on the committee for the SFX Society and the Adventure Gaming Society.
Job prospects
I'm looking to get a PhD. I would like to go into lecturering at UKC and would prefer to have a title when I do so. Also, there is a lot of need for scientists in society now and a lot of universities are shutting down their science departments, which means more jobs for us!
