Course Overview

With its vocational focus, our arts management training equips you with the skills and experience needed for a career in the creative sector. Employability is at the heart of the programme and we work with more than thirty partner organisations, as well our own unique arts centre and conservatoire environment, to offer high quality, mentored work-based learning opportunities. As well as being suitable for recent graduates, the course is also suitable for mid-career professionals wishing to upskill or move into leadership roles – via our part-time attendance and APEL (Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning) options

    A music and drama conservatoire setting whilst studying means you are exposed to a mix of arts and disciplines

    Project-based, external work placements with professional arts organistions such as: Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, National Dance Company Wales, Wales Millennium Centre, Theatr Clwyd, St David’s Hall to name a few.

    The course is delivered through a combination of face-to-face learning supported by practical experience and digital work

    Lectures, seminars and tutorials with a core team of experienced arts professionals including guest lectures from high profile arts professionals.

Modules

This core module is the first of a suite of management & leadership modules that supports the vocational focus of the course. Students are expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of contemporary debates in the field, addressing management issues affecting, and frequently threatening the stability of arts organisations.

Entry requirements

Normal entry requirements include a degree in any subject. The College also considers applications from people have been working in the arts industry, usually with at least two years’ relevant experience. All applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the arts management profession. Final selection is made on the basis of an interview.
