Improve human health with our Human Nutrition master’s. You will develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills while covering:

You can study our postgraduate Human Nutrition course as a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) or Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) if you wish to enhance your nutritional knowledge and for Continued Professional Development.

Accreditation

Our postgraduate Human Nutrition degree is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN) and the Hong Kong Nutritionists Society (HKNS). After successfully completing your course, you can:

enter the UK Voluntary Register for Nutritionists (UKVRN) as an Associate Nutritionist

become a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) of the HKNS.

If you return to Hong Kong as a graduate and want to practice independently, the HKNS will help you join our guidance programme, where you’ll accumulate practical experience under experienced Registered Nutritionists (RNutr).

Assessment methods

Students are expected to undertake a significant amount of work outside formal contact hours. Assessment methods vary across modules and include written coursework, presentations and examinations.

Modules

This module aims to equip students with deep understanding of the fundamental aspects of human nutrition. Sources and functions of energy, macronutrients and micronutrients will be reviewed. Students will gain a systematic understanding of dietary standards, the assessment and validity of dietary intake data, the effects of food processing and preparation on the nutrient content of food. Finally, the module will critically explore the role of food science in evaluating the chemical and physical properties of food will be critically explored.

Entry requirements

Applicants with at least a 2:2 degree (or equivalent) related to the bio-science field will be considered. Applicants with a first degree of at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) in a non-related field will be considered, subject to passing our Nutrition Fundamentals online course.
