Postgraduate Law reviews
LLM course for Law Students
University Of Southampton
Yan, April 2009Overall score
Study experience
The LLM course add one extra subject from 2008 and includes four subjects in total. It gives the students a good opportunity to learn one more subject but also makes it harder to obtain higher marks. The courses are taught by experienced lecturers or practitioners and they are very rewarding. The tutors are mainly phd students or lecturers. They are very patient and inspiring. There are 100% exams or assignments for different subjects.
Facilities
The university provides very modern lecture theatre and 5 library facilities. I can easily find all the books I need for my course. There are normally several copies of each book.
Postgraduate life
The study atmasphere here is 5. People are very friendly and willing to help each other. It makes the one year study much more enjoyable. I made new friends from all over the world because most students in the LLM course here are international students.

MA Medical Ethics and Law
King's College London (University Of London)
Ruth, April 2007Overall score
Study experience
The course covers the law relating to medicine and medical treatment in England and Wales with some mention of Scotland, and medical ethics as it ties in with the law. The course draws its students from varied backgrounds, including non-lawyers, but there is considerable scope for in-depth legal analysis. Non-lawyers very quickly become familiar with the idiosyncracies of English medical law. The two halves of the course complement each other very effectively, and are taught in such a way that the student can see the interplay between ethics and law. There is a very holistic feel to the course, with the dissertation element drawing from both the ethics and law halves. The tuition is beyond reproach. The staff are incredibly inspiring and display considerable enthusiasm for their subjects, whilst pushing you to achieve your best.
Facilities
The facilities are variable. There is a very good IT network. The library is amazing, but some of the classrooms are a little dated. These rooms tend not to be given to postgraduate students, so top marks!
Postgraduate life
The course only admits approximately 30 students each year so a "community" feel is developed very quickly. The group is very inclusive, creating a forum for everyone to speak. I have made lasting friends from my time on the course.

Law LLM
University Of Nottingham
Andrew, January 2008Overall score
A superb university with a great reputation, guaranteed first year accommodation, beautiful campus with lots of wide open spaces and a huge amount of fun to be had. I had a ball.
Study experience
Did Law degree and found it very heavy. For those a little more committed to their subject would I'm sure have found little fault
Facilities
Libraries and hall bars all good though I spent a lot more time in one than the other.
Postgraduate life
Amazing and seemingly never ending selection of clubs to join. Go for something you've never considered before ? great and cheap way to gain new experiences and meet new people. I decided on surfing and was competing in the National Surf Champs in Newquay the first time I ever got on a board. Cocktail society was a favourite too.
Job prospects
Dont think it necessarily matters which uni you go to, more that you know what you want to do.
Having said that, Nottingham is generally v well respected by employers and they say Law is a ?good grounding?. Not sure for what other than a legal career but that?s what ?they? say.
