For people who go to uni to help them build a successful career

Law LLB (Hons)

University Of Bristol

Katerina, August 2009

Overall score

My uni experience was enjoyable but not what I expected. I would recommend Bristol to people who want a solid degree behind them when they're applying for jobs. Think about what you want from coming to uni. If your main reason for going to uni is socialising, I'd think twice about applying to Bristol.

Study experience

It was pretty much what I imagined, maybe a little more demanding time-wise. I have to stress that Bristol gave me an excellent education and couldn't have prepared me better for my career. I am sure that it's thank to the way the course was built that I managed to secure a job. The advice I'd give on academic matters is: is you chose to do a demanding degree be prepared to put the hours into it.

Facilities

The law library is ok, not very high tech and they run out of books you need a lot. The main university library is much better - it has been renovated recently and it's actually really nice now and has what you need. The bar is really bad, nobody goes there. Sports facilities are excellent - the gym is very well equipped, there are loads of classes going on and there's sports grounds for every sport you can imagine.

Postgraduate life

Bristol is excellent for this. There is every society under the sun you can imagine, from chocolate society, to film to sky diving society. I am a member of the choir and the wine circle. I can highly recommend both.

Job prospects

I looked for a job. The course was excellent in helping me to find a job. The university really has an excellent reputation and employers like it! I can highly recommend Bristol for that reason.
