Course Summary

International Business is about learning worldwide business knowledge. Many business principles and practises are common across the world and our degrees will help you understand what these are and why they have been adopted internationally. We will also give you an understanding of how these business principles and practises vary in different countries, helping to prepare you for your business career.

Whether your first degree is in Business, or another subject, this course will help you understand why different processes and decisions are made by international businesses. This will be taught across a wide range of modules, including areas such as international business strategy, international trade, human resource management practises, management practises/principles, international marketing, and much more.

In addition to our standard MSc International Business, we also offer you the opportunity to focus on a specific topic in combination with International Business. For example, you could select a degree in International Business and Entrepreneurship or International Business, Banking and Finance, or International Business and Marketing.

International Business, Banking and Finance MSc: In some countries careers in the banking sector are very popular. In particular as careers develop alongside the technologies. Alongside the core international business modules, you will study emerging financial markets and investment, as well as the option to cover such areas as international banking systems, risk management in banking, banking & financial services law and bank modelling.

Modules

You will examine the fundamental concepts of international trade, finance and investment. It introduces the tools and techniques for asset pricing and capital budgeting, provides an overview of financial risk assessment and balance of payments and analyses the operation of the foreign exchange market and the determination of exchange rates. Topics you will cover include compounding, discounting and discounted cash flow analysis, the valuation of stocks and bonds in financial markets, the measurement of risk and the role of risk in asset pricing and financial decision-making, the balance of payments and the influence of macroeconomic factors on trade, the operation of currency markets and theories of exchange rate determination.

Entry requirements

Equivalent of a UK 2:2 degree in any subject which has enabled the applicant to develop analytical and quantitative skills.
