Religions and Theology MA
University Of Manchester (The)
Alexandra, December 2007Overall score
Study experience
Hugely relevant to today's political climate. Issues of religion, fundamentalism and sociology are all taught in a South Asian context. Various pathways are available (South Asian Studies, Political Life, Jewish Studies) which enable students to focus more clearly. One of the (if not the) best department in the country to study religions and theology.
Facilities
Brilliant library resources. The John Rylands library is very well stocked and the selection of e-journals is varied. Students are taught mainly in lecture/seminar contexts and classes are interactive, with use of powerpoint presentations. Students are encouraged to express ideas.
Postgraduate life
The teaching staff are encouraging and really make you want to learn. Students are encouraged to meet outside class-time, to share ideas and information they've learnt. Langauge classes have peer mentoring sessions, so you really build up a good working relationship with other students.
