The Director of MA Taught Programmes at York’s Department of Education, Dr. Zoe Handley, speaks about the MA in Applied Linguistics. The Programme takes students through language learning processes and teaches them how to set up effective conditions for learning a language. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in research and tailor the programme to their interest by choosing from both theoretical and practical modules. The main strength of the MA in Applied Linguistics is its link to the Centre for Language Learning Research. Graduates go on to become teachers, run their own language schools, or go into research. Applicants must have at least one year’s language teaching experience as well as an undergraduate degree in a related topic.
