‘If you can do a PHD you can do anything,’ but what does it take to do PG studies in Biosciences?

Dr Helen White-Cooper, Reader, discusses the ideal applicant and career prospects of those who want to study postgraduate courses with Cardiff University’s School of Biosciences. Completing an MA offers individuals the opportunity to decide whether they want to continue into further research. The transferable skills learnt also means those no longer interested in research have the option to progress into a range of careers. Ideal applicants for the PHD will have a minimum of a 2:1 with a passion for their chosen field.
