The value of independent thinking – how to succeed in Chemistry

Dr Philip Davies, Senior Lecturer in Physical Chemistry, discusses the career prospects of Chemistry postgraduates and what the school looks for in applicants. At this level, students need to be enthusiastic and committed to their field, with the ability to think ‘outside the box’. Careers in chemistry are varied and previous students have gone into working for large oil companies to small start-ups hoping to bring a new product to the market.
