International Relations MA

Overall Rating

I love Anglia Ruskin Cambridge but I am passionate about innovation and improvement, as a student of over 5 years ive watched a lot of progress that I am very proud to be apart of but there needs to be an investment into student services and the usability of the service for international students so they can get the help they need and know how to ask for it. The first point of call would be to introduce large legible signposts to order the lines of student waiting for help. The signs and methods used in the last 5 years for intake have been inadequate. The cafe is doing wonderful things to reduce waste and meet healthy living goals. We have asked for the unhealthy single-use plastic vending machines be removed but they have not yet but there is faith they will be removed in due time. The reason ive stayed with ARU as a returning student is their environmental commitment

Student Union

Clubs and Societies

a good selection of social sports, the classes are affordable and fun

Uni Facilities

the bathrooms are the only real let down of the campus! the library is well loved and in need off a bit off re-vamping, but the new science building and student union are fantastic and the services on campus are all improving, such as the bins (for compost, recycling and waste) and student advice

Course and Lecturers

The lack of feedback, when I applied for masters at ARU I was told I would receive more feedback than in my undergraduate at ARU, sadly the feedback has not improved or even there, this is the biggest let down of my course! and all other 16 students are in agreement. I do really love my courses but it makes learning almost impossible not being told what's right and wrong and how to improve, this information was disclosed in the module evaluation in the last term but no changes have been made in how little/no feedback we get on assignments

City Life

aru is very central with great links to all over the city

Job Prospects

the employment team are very helpful in applying for work and the CV surgery helped me prepare for post graduate study

Student Support

study skills plus and all the ARU tutors I have come across in 5 and a half years in my experience have been excellent, but the Student advice needs much bigger and clearer signs, the international students do not understand the current system and it is very messy and stops people getting to class on time because of the congestion in front of the library. For health and safety and efficiency PLEASE PUT SOME BIGGER SIGNS UP THAT international students can read
