Course Summary

This MPhil course Join an innovative group of engineers, scientists, physicians and industry partners working at the forefront of medical engineering. Our research falls into three categories; orthopedic, vascular disease and medical devices. We work on innovative disease prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation projects. Our partners include Mid-Essex Hospitals Trust, Broomfield Hospital, Springfield Capio Hospital and the Hospital for Special Surgery (the USA’s top rated orthopedic hospital). Together we’re developing cutting edge solutions to common debilitating clinical problems and you’ll be immersed in this as you pursue your own programme. Supervision is available internationally from a vast array of specialists and you’ll receive comprehensive research, subject and laboratory training. We’ll provide an inspiring environment for your research, having recently moved to a new fully-equipped medical engineering laboratory at our Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI). Our research students build strong networks in academia and industry, which creates exciting career opportunities. You’ll gain transferrable skills through our postgraduate research training programme, as well as a sound working knowledge of our advanced laboratory equipment and techniques.
