Course Summary

Overview

Dealing with the complex environment of modern healthcare requires highly skilled leaders and managers. The demand for quality healthcare is increasing, as rapid advances in treatments and information technologies magnify the expectations of patients and healthcare professionals. At the same time resources are limited as governments trim their healthcare budgets.

Our MBA will suit you if you're a recent graduate, or a professional with experience of working in the health and/or social care sector. Develop your skills and knowledge and open a range of career opportunities in senior management and leadership roles, in the UK or around the world.

Assessment

Your work is assessed through a variety of methods including seminar, group and individual presentations, virtual learning discussion boards with assessed components, mixed methods such as case review presentations with written commentary, and a final research application activity to conclude the course.

Careers

Our MBA will prepare you for operational and senior managerial positions in health and social care, either in the UK or internationally. You will also have Intermediate awards: PG Cert, PG Dip.

Modules

The major project is of central importance to the Masters award. The Health Management and Health Informatics major project provides you with an opportunity to write a significant piece of academic work on a Healthcare Management topic. It is a systematic review providing an analysis of a specific research question relevant to healthcare management or health informatics, using (1) the research skills and academic skills they have developed and (2) the knowledge you have gained during the course. You are encouraged to choose a topic that has arisen from material or issues they have studied during the course. However this need not always be the case as you may wish to identify a topic related to your planned career, past work experience or form a contemporary emerging issue in healthcare management or health informatics.
