Overview

Based by the sea in north Wales, Bangor University has over 11,000 students and 650 staff working in five colleges. These are:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Business, Law, Education and Social Sciences
  • Natural Sciences
  • Health and Behavioural Sciences
  • Physical and Applied Sciences.

A quarter of Bangor’s students are postgrads, 71% of which are studying full-time.

Known for its research work, Bangor is renowned in particular for its research into industries like accounting, electronic engineering, sports science and psychology. In fact, the Research Excellence Framework (REF) recognised that three quarters of their research as being either world leading or internationally excellent in 2014.

Bangor University has achieved a Gold Award, the highest rating possible, in the national Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2018. The TEF assessment took into account teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes and learning gain.
