Based by the sea in north Wales, Bangor University has over 11,000 students and 650 staff working in five colleges. These are:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Business, Law, Education and Social Sciences
  • Natural Sciences
  • Health and Behavioural Sciences
  • Physical and Applied Sciences.

A quarter of Bangor’s students are postgrads, 71% of which are studying full-time.

Known for its research work, Bangor is renowned in particular for its research into industries like accounting, electronic engineering, sports science and psychology. In fact, the Research Excellence Framework (REF) recognised that three quarters of their research as being either world leading or internationally excellent in 2014.

Bangor came third in the 2017 Whatuni Student Choice Awards University of the Year category and 7th in the postgraduate category. The highly positive comments from our student reviewers suggest this was very well deserved – many postgrad students point out they started at Bangor as undergrads, but enjoyed it so much they decided to stay on!

Students say:

“They have supported me wholeheartedly and want me to achieve to the best of my abilities. Lecturers go above and beyond to ensure we understand and we are happy”

“I love Bangor, this is my fourth year . I did my undergrad and stayed on for my masters. The staff are great and the research and working groups here are at the forefront of my field”

“So far, my overall university experience is excellent, thanks to the numerous facilities provided, the services available and the constant assistance of the university personnel.”
