There is a large selection of taught postgraduate courses at Bangor. Taught courses are offered for both full-time or part-time study in most cases, and typically students will cover a wide range of disciplines throughout their time at university, receiving targeted support from the relevant academic school.
Masters degrees are usually delivered through a combination of taught modules, and a research project or dissertation involving hands-on practical tuition.
Postgraduate courses in law, business, and environmental studies are organised with a degree of flexibility throughout the academic year, allowing students to begin their studies in January rather than September.
All colleges at Bangor offer research courses, backed up by the Research Support Office, which can help with securing funding opportunities and providing additional practical guidance. There are also opportunities for research collaborations with local and regional businesses, while Bangor’s Doctoral School provides support for both researchers and supervisory staff.
Bangor is highly regarded for the quality of its research output, and maintains strong connections with other research-oriented universities across the UK and globally, as well as the wider national and international research community.
Bangor offers a small number of distance learning courses, as well as “blended” courses which also feature face-to-face study. There is also a Chartered Banker MBA offered through the Bangor Business School and a MSc in Forestry and Environmental Management taught by the School of Natural sciences and their partnered universities in Canada.
