Graduate Diploma Theology

BELFAST BIBLE COLLEGE
Overall Rating

I have so far completed one semester and I’m very much looking forward to the next one, which I hope and believe that will go well after all the challenges in the first semester as a mature student. My overall experience at the college/university have been very positive and beneficial and I am grateful for being given an opportunity to study at the Belfast Bible college to grow my skills, become a better disciples of Christ and a better servent in my ministry and life

Uni Facilities

In my opinion, the university facilities are descent enough, although there is always room for improvement to adapt to various needs and the changing world!

Course and Lecturers

I like all my course contents and it’s been a tremendous and blessed learning experience being at the Belfast Bible College. They have a variety of modules from which students can choose from depending on what they would like to pursue as career in the future.

There is a lot to like about how the courses are taught at the Bible college, but my humble opinion is that students shouldn’t mainly be evaluated by how good they can write essays. Since it is a theological degree, there should be more of practical and oral, while keeping even to 30% of each module for essays. I am very sure that this will increase the enthusiasm as we’re a new generation and a few things needs to adapt to produce much better disciples than it has been in the past. But, this is only a humble opinion and as I am aware there are many scholars who sit together to decide how best the courses should be taught. I hope and pray that this would be shade some lights in an area of improvements!

City Life

The college is located in a strategic place in the outskirts of central Belfast and close to several accommodations in the town and also has its own student's residence on campus along with many local amenities in the surrounding.

Job Prospects

At the college, students opportunities around the country are displayed on the news board on a regular basis and students can see different opportunities they are out there of interest. The college also organises compulsory placements for those in third years and can also arrange any students from the Graduate diploma to have a placement if they do wish and that they can manage the load of work.

The college also organised events from various charities and Christian missions agency to inform students of opportunities as a missionary around the world or other opportunities available at the local level. This is a good way to ensure that students are more likely to find employment when it is required.

At the college, there are opportunities for students to gain work experience by volunteering in various events or any college related work a student may be interested in doing to make a good use of their skills.

Student Support

This is a big win at the Bible college. Students from a diversity of continual backgrounds are offered tailored support as required on an academic level as well as personal level. For example, each student, depending on their year of study are in a fellowship group of 4-8 people meeting at least once a week to fellowship, pray together and build one another up. In each fellowship group, there’s a tutor to support the student's growth while at the college. The college also supports students coming out of Northern Ireland and UK in settling down and getting used to the culture in order to have a better experience and study in good conditions without feeling homesick, but rather having a sense of a home away from home.

Also, the Community life coordinator meets students on a regular basis and students can any time request pastoral care or counselling for support on an academic, spiritual and personal level, especially for mature students who need to re-adapt to the student life and still have a balance with family life. This is an area where the college has invested a lot of support to build up the student’s community while making disciples of the 21st century.

All staff and students at the college meet for a service on Tuesday to worship, pray and hear the Word of God and fellowship with one another as well. This helps knowing each other better in order to also be of help in time of need!
