Course Summary

Do you want to learn the theory and application of clinical hypnotherapy? This course will help you gain theoretical and practical knowledge of hypnosis and related techniques. You will improve and enhance your consultation skills and widen your approaches to common mental health problems.

This programme can be studied part-time at a variety of levels and is run in partnership with the British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis (BSCAH).

What's covered in the course?

You will learn through lead lectures, group discussion, practical demonstrations and guided student-to- student practice.

You will be taught by experienced practising clinicians and academics from medicine, dentistry, psychology and nursing who are accredited by BSCAH.

Enhancing your employability skills

This course will give you enhanced communication skills with patients and clients.

You will also be able to support patients with relaxation and stress reduction strategies.

Modules

During this module, you will: Appraise a range of language patterns and models of communication with specific reference to their use in hypnosis. Make critical judgements based on a comprehensive understanding of the use of dissociation in hypnosis and its distinction from the associated state.; Articulate critical awareness and application of the major techniques and exercises used for developing personal and interpersonal excellence; Evaluate the principles of goal setting and timeline therapy within a hypnotherapeutic approach, evaluating their use in practice. Critically reflect on the strengths and limitations of their own professional practice of hypnosis and demonstrate depth of understanding, knowledge and skills for safe competent practice.
