Course Summary

The School Direct Training Programme is school-embedded initial teacher training (ITT) in primary and secondary schools across England. All of BGU’s School Direct places will lead to both a full PGCE award and Qualified Teacher Status. Graduates of this course will generally go to posts in teaching or in other educational settings. Many continue to work in our partner schools and often eventually become mentors to our trainee teachers. There are two separate School Direct training options: School Direct Training Programme (non-salaried); School Direct Training Programme (salaried). Experience in a relevant setting is important as it will help you to make sure that you are aware of the role of a teacher in the twenty-first century. The course is intensive and demanding and you need to be aware of what a career in the teaching profession entails.
