BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY
Overall Rating

Overall, I have had a good experience from my uni and the area in which it is. The course has been very beneficial and insightful and I have developed as a professional and as a person.

Student Union

Dylan's Bar is great, they put on a wide range of events and activities and they provide good student support and opportunities. Would sometimes be good to have some slightly clearer promotion of activities/events coming up.

Clubs and Societies

I haven't engaged much in this aspect of uni life but there are many different clubs available and it appears easy to start up a society if you wish.

Accommodation

In terms of university managed accommodation, I only stayed in Cranborne House halls of residence in my first year and I was pretty happy with it. The fittings were good and my bed was really comfortable, my en suite was a good size and so was my room. The only things that could have improved it was the provision of wifi and more enforcement to make disgusting people clean up their mess in communal areas. (I lived here 2011-2012)

Uni Facilities

For the most part they are very good, but more computers would be very much appreciated during exam and assignment periods. Also, better access to academic literature would be good as there are many journals in which we struggle to access the full articles.

Course and Lecturers

The AppSci lecturers are very enthusiastic, helpful and encouraging. They provide fantastic support and influence for students and we are very lucky to have them.

City Life

I could not have imagined going to university anywhere else. Generally, Bournemouth and Poole are pleasant, scenic and relatively friendly. Good options for eating out and nights out too.

Job Prospects

The emphasis on employability from the ApSci faculty is fantastic and much needed.

Student Support

For me, this has been great from my lecturers. The counselling service at the medical centre needs to be more accessible. However, this lead me to the chaplaincy and they were fantastic for someone to talk to about your struggles.

Having said what you have said would you recommend your uni?
