Postgraduate Reviews of Courses at Bristol, University of the West of England

There are a lot of good and positive things to share about. read full review
Frenchay is a nice campus, it can be a little out of the way depending where you find accommodation but once on campus it's really easy to get around and get things you need. The campus is definitely much more maintain and many more resources available than Bower.

The Union is great and there really friendly to talk too. read full review
There are lot of study spaces available for students like us in the UWE, which are entirely calm and quiet. I prefers to go there whenever I want to read something. Those spaces have also computers with printer facilities. read full review
Best:
I personally study in the business & law building. The facilities are amazing! It's brand new, feels great and looks good. Lots of coffee shops, small study spaces, a law study room, computer rooms, rooftop area outside etc etc. Really enjoy majority of the law staff, they're really knowledgeable, friendly and most of them are previous lawyers/solicitors which is really helpful and we know they are experienced. The SU is really nice and good to grab a cheap beer and some lunch. Transport links are good with busses running regularly to Bristol City Centre. The online library is helpful and has accsess to lots of databases such as west-law and Lexus which I use in my studies. Additionally, I love to study on the quiet floor of the Frenchay Library.

Improvements:
Apart from the new buildings on campus (business block and engineering) the campus feels outdated and quite old. It can also be overwhelming/hard to find your way around campus if you're in a different block to where you usually study. Campus location is okay, it's a little bit out of Bristol main city centre but sometimes this can be a pro rather than a con. UWE online facilities are mainly good however I have experienced online issues around timetabling and applications before however it has been minimal. The SU could also potentially be used for an late night space more often, I've been to Cardiff University before and their SU on weekends turns into a 'club' night with DJs and is a really safe but good 'night out' experience.

I completed my undergraduate here and due to my positive experience, I returned for my Master's. The lecturers are very supportive, they are always happy to help when I have questions about assessments or career concerns. I feel I have a positive relationship with a few lecturers who I can talk to if I need any support while here. I also find university stimulating here, being challenged but also having an enjoyable learning experience.

I do get a bit lonely at university sometimes, this is not a reflection of the university, it can just be a bit isolating being away from family for long periods of time.

Overall I have a very positive experience however. read full review
UWE has demonstrated a commendable commitment to student support throughout my academic journey. The student support services are extensive, offering guidance on academic matters, career counseling, and personal well-being. The staff is approachable and genuinely invested in the success and welfare of the students. The campus at UWE is both vibrant and modern.
My time at the University of the West of England has been enriching and fulfilling.
-The cost of tuition, and living expenses can place a significant financial burden for me.
-The transition from university to the workforce can be challenging. read full review
As my first overseas education experience, UWE exceeded my expectations. I have thoroughly enjoyed my studies so far and abiding by the UWE principles, Prepare, Participate and Practise, I believe I have grown in my academic aspects while also being blessed with all the resources the university has provided since the beginning. The infrastructure and the study spaces all create a welcoming and purposeful aura to build on our thought processes and certainly make ideas come to life. Being an international student from Sri Lanka, I would recommend University of West of England (Frenchay Campus) to all my friends. read full review
UWE offers practical learning and a diverse community but could improve support services and workload transparency. read full review
The best aspect of my university experience was the collaborative environment. Being surrounded by motivated peers and supportive faculty encouraged innovation and critical thinking. Group projects and interdisciplinary courses allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, which was invaluable for my personal and professional development.

However, the administration's bureaucracy sometimes hindered the efficiency of academic and extracurricular activities. Processes for course registration, financial aid, and accessing certain resources could be cumbersome and time-consuming.

To improve, the university could streamline administrative procedures through digital transformation, making them more user-friendly and less time-intensive. Enhancing communication channels between students and administration could also address issues more promptly and improve the overall university experience. read full review
My building which is the business school is quite new and modern, it is very nice. It is located in a nice area too, and it's only about 20 minutes away from the city centre by bus.
I think it could have more events organised by the student's union, I know other universities have way more events and even parties.
Overall I'm quite happy with my experience studying here. read full review
