Course Summary

The programme is aimed at education sector professionals, these can be teachers, lecturers, heads, principals, office/business managers, specialists or other managers who are looking to enhance their qualifications and knowledge base. This often includes those who have been given, or are going to be given, responsibility for other staff and often for budgets too. This MBA is specially aimed at those with leadership and managerial roles within education. This course has been designed for experienced teachers, departmental heads, lecturers, managers, leaders and senior professionals working in education in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in the UK and abroad. In an increasingly competitive environment, this course provides educational practitioners with an opportunity to develop your organizational, management and business skills as well as to enhance your professional practice.

The programme contains a mixture of interactive class based sessions, case studies, presentations and guest speakers. Progress is assessed on an on­going basis, through assessments including written reports, group and individual presentations, and on­line submissions. In total 180 Level 7 credits are required for the MBA, this includes the final dissertation. Assessment is via coursework. The MBA will support your career prospects, and give you greater awareness of how to take forward your professional development and enhance your service, as well as an in-depth understanding of leading and managing teams aligned to current and emerging education agendas. As well as enhancing your professional practice, managerial, business and leadership skills, you will develop a deeper understanding of existing and innovative practice in your chosen field.

Modules

The module will support you in developing inclusive policy and practice in your own unique and complex professional situations, through action research involving action planning, data gathering and analysis and systematic problem-solving to support change. It will do this with a particular emphasis on business processes.
