Course Summary

The PGCE Secondary programme MFL (German with French) is an innovative and intensive nine-month course preparing graduates for the demands of teaching in the Secondary sector. You will be awarded a PGCE and recommended for Qualified Teacher Status, enabling you to teach in schools on completion of the course. The course is organised in partnership with schools around Kent and Medway where you will spend 24 out of the 36 weeks teaching in two different schools.

Who is the course for?

The programme is for people who want to become qualified teachers.

Assessment

Students will be assessed via academic assignments and assessment of their teaching.

Students will submit an academic assignment for 20 credits at master’s Level (Level 7) in each of the three modules. The assessment varies for each submission and will include both written elements and presentations.

Upon successful completion of the programme you can teach in schools all over the world as a qualified teacher.

Modules

This module involves work in studying key concepts that underpin the various curricula and syllabi for you subject. The sessions allow discussion of different pedagogies and allow reflection on differing school approaches to the subject.

Entry requirements

Students need a good honours degree (2:2 or above) in a subject related to the subject they wish to teach or, in some exceptional cases, an unrelated degree if they have extensive employment in industry in the relevant subject area; English and maths at GCSE (grade C or above) or equivalent for Secondary; and successful completion of the Occupational Health Clearance and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
