Course Summary

Nutrition improves performance; whether in elite sport, amateur fitness or exercise among the general population. This course will enable you to gain the evidence-based knowledge and skills needed to become a professional Sports and Exercise Nutritionist. The course has been designed to enable you to join the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr), the professional register for qualified sports and exercise nutritionists in the UK. You'll be taught by experienced registered SENr practitioners to ensure you enter the workplace with the skills you need to positively impact performance of whoever you are working with.

Assessment is varied to allow you to develop the broad range of skills required for professional registration. The majority of modules are assessed using written coursework with some elements assessed via practicals and verbal presentations. There are no written exams.

The course has been designed to enable you to join the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr), the professional register for qualified sports and exercise nutritionists. This is an important quality maker which recognises that your skills and knowledge have been benchmarked against those required in this competitive job market. Some graduates will go onto work with elite sport but many will apply their skills to a wider range of individuals including amateur sport and promoting good nutrition to improve health in the wider population. There is a strong emphasis on transferable skills throughout the course, for example dietary assessment and consultation skills. Students can exit at Postgraduate Diploma levels.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have at least a second class honours degree in nutrition, dietetics, sports science, human biology, exercise physiology or equivalent.
