Introduction
Gain the knowledge and skills you need for a public health career worldwide. From epidemiological research to addiction and disease, policy-making to migration and mental health, this course covers the key concepts. Across the globe, the increasing demand for healthcare alongside the reduction in funding for healthcare systems means there is an increased need for a trained, effective workforce of public health professionals. Globally, the field of public health is ever-expanding, particularly in the context of increased migration, conflict, natural disasters, and infectious disease outbreaks.
You could be working in a public health-related role or in a medical-related field. In either case you’ll find a wealth of valuable content here, which will allow you to gain specialised skills to prepare you to make a valuable contribution to global public health. At ARU, our postgraduate Global Public Health degree takes a modern approach, by directly addressing the social, economic, political and other factors that influence population health. The taught aspects explore the field globally and are applicable to any country or health system. You’ll learn how to apply advanced theory and techniques to practical scenarios. Your course will culminate in planning, researching and writing your Masters project. This can focus an area of particular interest to you and be research or work-based.
How you'll be assessed
We have designed our assessments to ensure both theoretical knowledge and practical skills are assessed. Our assessments are authentic, inclusive and give real world experience. Assessments have been developed to include skills you'll need in your future public health careers such as policy briefs, persuasive arguments, intervention development and written evaluations, debates, outbreak management plans.
Careers
This MPH Global Public Health has been mapped against the Faculty of Public Health Public Health Training Curriculum and does therefore assist with achieving professional recognition. We expect our graduates to be able to seek roles in a variety of sectors such as health, government, voluntary organisations and the wider community. Graduation doesn’t have to be the end of your time with us. You could choose to continue your academic career with a PhD programme at ARU.
