Our PG Cert Practice Educator (Social Work) course is designed for UK-based social workers registered with Social Work England and have at least two years practice experience, to enable them to become an effective practice educator in their professional setting.During your studies, you’ll explore the process of practice learning environments that embrace diversity of learners and demonstrate anti-oppressive, anti-discriminatory and anti-racist practice, in promoting effective outcomes in the service of our communities. You’ll also reflect on your own experiences to integrate the theory you learn with your practice in the workplace. As part of the course, you’ll learn theories around teaching and supervise, teach, and assess a qualifying student social worker within their practice placement. You’ll also take responsibility for an additional teaching, learning and assessment task with a second learner or supervisee. The course is offered in Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough and is aligned with: Social Work England Professional Standards; BASW Professional Capabilities Framework; Skills for Care’s ASYE Framework and Post-Qualifying Standards (formerly KSS) and BASW (2022) guidance for Practice Educator Professional Standards.CareersOnce you’re accredited as a PEPS 2 practice educator, you are qualified to assess student social workers doing either Stage 1 (70-day initial placement) or Stage 2 placements (100-day final placement).
