In this module, stakeholder management theories and applications are at the heart of the learning that you?ll undertake. This learning is extended into ethics and sustainability issues with a focus on how to develop communications to support and manage stakeholders and the many and diverse communities you may need to keep informed, satisfied, monitor, or manage closely. This module will be tailored to the sector of your study, e.g., tourism, digital marketing, etc.
Marketing a destination is a key skill for tourism graduates to acquire, and the challenge is to create content that captures potential visitors? attention and creates a desire and interest in visiting. This is particularly true for tourism practitioners working in this region who have a range of heritage and natural assets to market. This module will give you the knowledge and skills in tourism marketing to promote a destination, an attraction or experience, or a tourism related organisation using digital and offline methods.

Tourism also has a multitude of benefits but can lead to heritage and natural assets being damaged by too many visitors. The UN?s Sustainable Development Goals has made organisations consider the impact of their actions and how to move forward in a more ethical and sustainable way. This is a thought-provoking module that will develop your knowledge and skills around the planning and creation of events and the management of tourism in a more sustainable manner. You will have the option of choosing whether to focus on events or tourism in this module for your independent learning, fieldwork, and assessment.
In this module, you will consider the development of housing and the relationship between this and planning, developing the ability to critically analyse planning policy and practice, together with the consideration of new policies for housing. You'll develop a good knowledge and understanding of the constraints, goals, methods and procedures of planning and housing professionals.
In this module, you will chose an independent research topic from an area of expertise within our department (subject to availability of suitable supervision) and will conduct a significant research project in that area which may involve a literature review, data collection, analysis and a write-up. The final piece of work should be equivalent to a maximum of 12,000 words.
Gain an understanding of the inseparable nature of the place and its context, a 'sense of place', and how this affects the design of new buildings and place-making that contribute to the built environment. You'll study the primary elements that form the physical environment in its historic, present and future context, together with the relative legal and planning constraints that affect the built environment. You'll survey, study, investigate and evaluate a real urban site, and develop the ability to analyse and evaluate elements of townscape, in particular the design elements that contribute to urban form and place shaping.
In this module, you will look at wider developments in environmental protection and how these affect construction, as well as how construction affects them. You will also examine the demands that greater environmental awareness places on the built environment.
