This course will give you a sound understanding knowledge of how and where you can responsibly and pragmatically apply knowledge and findings from research into real-world situations and within a number of potential work environments.

During the course, you will be made aware of your professional responsibilities working in the field - for example when writing reports, being an expert witness or conducting research. These can include consideration of ethics, managing personal development and building resilience.

Modules

Providing you with an understanding of, and initial training in professional practice considerations when working in the field. Specifically we will also consider report writing and courtroom skills, together with legal and practical aspects of giving evidence. We will discuss professional duties from data collection, note taking and retention. We will consider courtroom procedures, lawyers? requirements, and the preparation and structure of expert or professional witness? reports. The unit will be delivered through a combination of lectures, training in court room skills and practical exercises involving behavioural analysis of simulated crime scenes.
