Open to graduates from any discipline, this course offers you the opportunity to hone your practical skills by getting involved in a range of exciting events and projects, building on our expertise and many links with event managers, organisations and venues in south-west England and beyond.
The event industry is one of the youngest and fastest growing industries in the world today, playing a key role in economic development and social wellbeing, and stimulating business and leisure travel - both nationally and internationally.
By studying our MSc Events Management, you will be equipped with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of planning, organising and evaluating the impact of a wide variety of events in a range of different industry sectors. Throughout the course you will develop the professional and transferable skills you need to make your mark in this exciting and dynamic profession.
Wide-ranging expertise
Events span a huge range of activities, from highly-publicised international sporting events, concerts, charity fundraisers, corporate promotions, conferences and exhibitions, to performing arts and cultural festivals, national and regional events, and locally-run festivals.
The course brings together our established and internationally-recognised expertise in event studies, and business and management, to give you a solid grounding in the various concepts and issues, research techniques and examples of good and distinctive practice across this diverse field.
Industry experience
Gaining practical experience of working in events and festivals is a compulsory part of the course, providing you with invaluable industry experience. Being based in Bristol means you will have access to a year-round calendar of festivals and events, and be able to benefit from our many partnerships with event businesses and organisations in the area.
Careers / Further study
Careers in event management are diverse, and roles include working as an event organiser, conference centre manager or event marketing executive. There are opportunities to specialise in particular events and event types, including meetings and exhibitions, and sporting and cultural events.
The MSc in Events Management will give you the broad-based skills and insights needed for a successful career within the industry. Networking with event organisers and other employers, and gaining hands-on experience, will stand you in good stead for shaping a successful events career.
Students can exit with PGDip and PGCert awards.
