Course info

This course offers interdisciplinary research environments, investigating the effects of art, music, movement, and drama on health and wellbeing. Our collaborative ethos is demonstrated through our work with neuroscience, health, and the creative arts, highlighting international innovation and innovative approaches to research and healing, spanning the domains of NHS, community, and education. Central to our mission is the art of relational facilitation within complex social contexts, supported through critical thinking, developing novel strategies for working with marginalised populations. We provide a supportive research environment, empowering students to flourish and engage in creative inquiry and scientific investigation grounded in arts and health science principles. Moreover, we advocate for creative exploration in understanding health change within the socio-political context, recognising its potential to impact global issues. Discover a realm where art meets science to shape a healthier world-join us at Brunel Arts and Health. You will receive tailored careers support during your PhD and for up to three years after you complete your research at Brunel. We encourage you to actively engage in career planning and managing your personal development right from the start of your research, even (or perhaps especially) if you don't yet have a career path in mind. Our careers provision includes online information and advice, one-to-one consultations and a range of events and workshops. The Professional Development Centre runs a varied programme of careers events throughout the academic year. These include industry insight sessions, recruitment fairs, employer pop-ups and skills workshops. In addition, where available, you may be able to undertake some paid work as we recognise that teaching and learning support duties represent an important professional and career development opportunity.
