You will gain in-depth understanding and skills across a breadth of research methods, laying the groundwork for a career as a healthcare researcher. Benefits of this courseThe programme focuses on formal training in research methods for evidence based practice and on applied data analysis, including quantitative and qualitative research and statistical analysis. Through the allocation of a University-based supervisor and a practice-based clinical mentor, you will be prepared for the conceptual, methodological, ethical and logistical challenges faced by all researchers.Under the guidance of methodological and profession specific experts, the course will provide the opportunity to explore the application of advanced-level research. You will undertake high quality, publishable research, that can be used to influence and lead health service related delivery, policy and innovation.

Modules

You will further develop your understanding of research methods in a health context, introducing more complex forms of study design and higher-level methods of appraisal and review of literature.

Entry requirements

You should have all of the following:

  • Honours degree (2:2 or above) from the UK or Republic of Ireland
  • recognised healthcare/health-related professional qualification and current professional registration
  • at least one years full-time clinical experience (or the equivalent in part-time hours) in health or social care employment (for example nursing, paramedics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, radiology, etc), within a clinical service area relevant to Advanced Clinical Practice or the specified pathway you wish to follow (specific requirements and entry criteria apply to some modules and these will be indicated in the module outlines).
