Course Summary

Overview

This MA Management (Advance Standing) is aimed at managers with two or more years of professional experience. This flexible work-based course has real-world applications and has been designed to help maximise your impact at work, enhance your professional skills and boost your career prospects by converting your prior experience and professional accreditations into a master’s qualification - all in as little as six months.

This course supports the production of a research project, developed in collaboration with your employer (if applicable) and a course-based supervisor, to investigate and address a real-life management issue. It’s your chance to step back from the day-to-day and get the time and help you need to focus on an issue and develop an effective solution that’s backed by rigorous research. You’ll be encouraged to think strategically, tap into your organisation’s data, or previous real-life experiences, and utilise analytical skills and critical thinking to spot opportunities, solve problems and help create meaningful change.

Delivered online with the option for students who are able to attend up to three face-to-face sessions located at Coventry University’s campus within Coventry city-centre, this course is built to fit around the existing demands of life and work. For those who are not able to attend face-to-face sessions the digital online content and seminars are also available, meaning flexibility is increased. You can study where and when it suits you, with expert guidance from a dedicated course supervisor, who will support you in the development and execution of your research while helping to broaden your perspective and develop your managerial skills.

Course information

As part of the course, you will work in collaboration with your organisation (if applicable) and a course-based supervisor to initiate and deliver a research project that’s focused on a real-life management issue. It’s your chance to explore new or familiar challenges from a unique perspective, with ongoing support from experts based at Coventry Business School. The aim is to have your work benefit both you and your employer, who should be able to access your findings digitally and distribute them across the business.
