Course Summary

Support your professional development on our MSc Clinical Professional Development (Clinical Education) degree. Aimed at a multi-professional audience, the course offers a supportive and challenging learning environment in which you can critically review and develop theoretical perspectives and practical skills.

The clinical education Masters degree will be run on a multi-professional basis, allowing health professionals to share knowledge, experience and skills in teaching and supporting learning, and the assessment or evaluation of teaching. You will improve your teaching skills and develop a critical understanding of how individuals learn in a clinical environment.

Offering a unique, diverse and flexible portfolio of modules within a multi-professional framework, you are able to choose modules that support your ongoing professional development in clinical or medical education.

We also offer a PGDip in Clinical Professional Development (Clinical Education).

Modules

Assessing Learning and Evaluating Teaching provides the opportunity to examine the form of assessment used in your profession and the different means by which teaching is evaluated and learning facilitated. The module reviews and critically analyses the principles informing assessment and evaluation and applies them to actual practice within the clinical context. There will also be opportunities for you to practice your teaching skills and to observe and give feedback to your peers. Topics include assessing learning, evaluating teaching, methods of assessment and evaluation, and peer observation of teaching.
