The Management Consultancy Project (60 credits) - Core

The Management Consultancy Project provides you with the opportunity to apply your learning to a real, complex organisational issue that is unfolding whilst you are undertaking your studies. You will formulate and define the organisational challenge through interviews with key stakeholders who experience and engage with the organisational challenge on a regular basis. You will then examine the organisational challenges through relevant theoretical contexts. Following this, you will design and execute an appropriate research design capable of investigating the organisational challenge through engagement with experts and stakeholders who can provide relevant information. You will then interpret and communicate findings to the relevant stakeholders, following up with them to agree the next steps. Throughout this module, you will work closely with a supervisor, a contact within an organisation and your peers on the programme to meet the dual demands of the module and the dynamic organisational challenges.

Organisational Research (15 credits) - Core

Organisational Research is designed to develop your awareness of research methodologies and techniques that are specifically appropriate for undertaking, analysing and writing-up academic research linked to critical, public and third sector management. The module will develop your existing knowledge of advanced theory within the areas of study and link this to a range of research techniques. You will explore a wide range of methodologies and develop the necessary conceptual, methodological, practical and ethical skills necessary for management studies research.

Financial Decision Making (15 credits) - Core

Financial Decision Making offers an in-depth exploration of both financial and management accounting information. It facilitates understanding of domestic and global financial environments and introduces various techniques for financial analysis, including ratio and statistical analysis. The module addresses investment appraisal techniques, and contextualises financial information through alternative perspectives and methodologies. It also examines options for raising capital, ranging from equity methods such as capital markets, to debt methods like loans and debentures. It concludes with a thorough investigation into the decision-making process, paying particular attention to the psychological aspects and their impact on decision-makers during the decision-making and implementation stages.

Collaborative Innovation (15 credits) - Core

Collaborative Innovation focuses on the process of transforming an idea into a product or service and establishing its ‘innovative’ character. Innovation involves the development and launch of a novel or reconfigured product or service to secure a competitive edge or even establish new markets. This module delves into the distinctions amongst an idea, an invention, and an innovation, providing you with a case-driven comprehension of the process in action, from inception to execution. Furthermore, it will equip you with an array of tools and methodologies to critically evaluate success.

Leadership Skills and Practice (15 credits) - Core

Leadership Skills and Practice is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to confidently lead teams and organisations through contemporary challenges. Building on your existing leadership experience, you will develop your ability to devise effective leadership interventions as well as the ability to confidently evaluate their impact. You will be encouraged to move beyond traditional ways of thinking and apply appropriate leadership behaviours to make and implement decisions that best meet the needs of key stakeholders. By the end of this module, you will be a more responsive, responsible and resilient leader.

Business Analytics (15 credits) - Core

Business Analytics aims to develop your ability to make optimal decisions within a variety of contexts including finance, human resources, operations and marketing by exploring the practical application of statistical and non-statistical analytical techniques. By the end of the module, you'll be equipped to carry out sophisticated analytics that promote the application of evidence-based decision-making. This module is particularly beneficial for students wanting to progress their career in market intelligence, business analysis or consultancy as well as those who want to optimise their general managerial capabilities.

International Economics (15 credits) - Core

International Economics explores global concepts and theories with a focus on their application to business management. The module is designed to equip you with knowledge of how global economic forces shape markets, competition, and strategic decision-making. It examines how international trade, trade policies, and economic integration influence business strategies and operations. You will also get the opportunity to critically analyse global economic trends and develop strategic insights relevant to managing businesses in an international environment.

Programming for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (15 credits) - Core

Programming for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence provides an overview of various aspects of data science, including data analysis, data mining and data processing. The recent rise of big data has created massive opportunities for the use of data science methods in driving business and design decisions. This module will introduce you to advanced data analysis techniques and key concepts in big data. You will discover advanced data structures, programming techniques and distributed processing models. Effective approaches to improve understanding and processing efficiency will also be outlined. These are especially important when dealing with data in large-scale. Resolving real-world tasks will ensure you develop practical experience using a selected modern programming language, distributed processing software and data analysis tools.

Artificial Intelligence in Theory & Practice (15 credits) - Core

Artificial Intelligence in Theory & Practice focuses on a core way in which businesses, brands and governments engage, interact and collect data and information from their customers. No technical skills are required for this module, you will be introduced to the legal concepts associated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), which you will explore in more detail by developing, deploying and managing a simple conversational AI system. You will learn the common ways in which AI systems work, the legal and ethical challenges associated with the use of these models and the different legislative approaches across the USA, UK and Europe.
