Course Summary

This highly practical course will bring together ultrasonography, radiology and CT/MRI in a series of interactive modules. The fundamental principles of all the imaging modalities including their applications will be covered in detail. Case based material will feature strongly throughout the course. The modules will assist delegates in consolidating their knowledge of the key imaging modalities and in choosing the most clinically appropriate diagnostic method.

The Diagnostic Imaging blended learning programme will bring together ultrasonography, radiology and CT/MRI in interactive and practical modules.

The fundamental principles of imaging modalities and their applications will be covered in detail. Case-based material will feature strongly throughout the programme. The modules will assist you in consolidating your knowledge of the key imaging modalities and develop your skills in selecting the most clinically appropriate diagnostic method.

Registration on the Diagnostic Imaging blended learning programme will now include access to the RCVS Knowledge Library for the duration of the course. The RCVS Knowledge library includes access to many electronic resources, including the latest journals and clinical research. This resource is a vital addition for those engaged in further study, exploring evidence-based veterinary medicine questions (EBVMQs) and accessing the most up to date literature throughout the programme.

Key learning objectives: Recognise the normal radiographic appearance of the abdomen; Interpret radiological changes associated with diseases of the abdominal wall, peritoneal cavity, retroperitoneal space, liver, spleen, pancreas, adrenal glands, lymph nodes, urogenital and gastrointestinal systems; Understand the value of contrast studies in the evaluation of the urogenital and gastrointestinal systems; View CT images demonstrating the normal appearance of the abdomen; Consider when to choose CT as a diagnostic modality in abdominal conditions.

Entry requirements

All applicants must: hold a veterinary qualification. For progression to the Postgraduate Certificate (PgC), individuals must have spent a minimum of one year in veterinary practice prior to starting the General Practitioner Certificate (GPCert) programme.
