MSc Financial Technology brings together highly relevant modules and electives to provide you with key quantitative and analytical skills, knowledge of the financial sector and provides practical experience through immersive learning. The skills you will gain are in demand from top recruiters in fintech, and you will graduate prepared to embark on a rewarding fintech orientated career in the financial services sector.

The programme will enable you to understand, execute and possibly develop disruptive financial innovations using appropriate tools and techniques. You will be able to demonstrate analytical skills to create, manage and interrogate large data sets applicable to the finance sector and build up a critical awareness of current issues in the fintech landscape. A range of programming tools will facilitate live implementations of financial models and allow you to analyse and evaluate investment decisions and data.

Modules

This module builds on the introductory module and introduces basic programming in R to perform statistical analysis using the R Studio editor. You will apply your skills to empirical finance applications like stock market predictability using different factors from the literature. The module will also build on basic programming skills in Python to perform similar analysis but also as applied to financial modelling like options pricing and financial modelling

Entry requirements

Students need to have quantitative undergraduate degree at First or 2:1 honours (or international equivalent). Students also should have a First Class Honours degree or a Upper Second Class Honours degree from a recognised university or the international equivalent in a highly quantitative discipline such as: Engineering; Computer Science; Mathematics; Economics; Finance; Science.
