The modules are made available to you following a schedule that allows you to work at your own pace but keep in sequence with the assessment requirements. Each module is broken into a series of units and lessons, making the content manageable and assisting with your time allocation throughout the programme.

Course Format and Assessment

To successfully complete the programme, students must pass each module.
Assessments will incorporate coursework, research assignments and writing essays.
There will be no examinations requiring attendance at a venue.
You will also be expected to participate in the virtual learning environment with tutors and fellow students.

Modules

The module immerses students in contemporary trends and emerging paradigms within safety and security at both local and global levels, and explores some justifications for the increasing ?securitisation? of social life. Students will explore a variety of social settings where concepts of safety or security are applied with particular reference to community policing. By a process of critical reflection and analysis they will be encouraged to test the success and validity of security provision within these settings and to consider the effects of securitisation processes upon contemporary criminal justice systems and other regulatory environments. Key theories and policies related to safety and security will be examined and tested, and their ethical and legal implications outlined.
