Overview
Our Engineering with Management MSc will equip you with practical and theoretical knowledge of modern engineering, alongside a grounding in management techniques and their application to the field of engineering. The course will prepare you for a career in the field of engineering at a managerial level.
Course detail
Our Engineering with Management MSc will prepare you for a management pathway in engineering. You'll study key areas of operations and project management, which will equip you with the skills of how to use mathematical modelling and optimisation methods to solve a range of problems. You will also gain an understanding of project planning approaches, monitoring and operations strategy. There are also opportunities to explore a wide variety of optional modules, which means you'll have the freedom to explore your interests. You will complete the course in one year, studying from September to September and taking a combination of required and optional modules totalling 180 credits, including 60 credits that will come from an individual project.
Teaching and assessment
We use lectures, seminars and group tutorials to deliver most of the modules on the course. You will also be expected to undertake a significant amount of independent study. Typically, one credit equates to 10 hours of work, e.g. 150 hours work for a 15 credit module. These hours cover every aspect of the module. The primary method of assessment for this course is a combination of written examinations, essays, coursework and individual or group projects and oral presentations. The individual project will be assessed through a 15,000 word report.
Career prospects
Our graduates have gone on to pursue successful careers in manufacturing and engineering management.
