As a biotechnology-focused engineer, you'll help to improve the world around us by tackling global issues in bioprocessing, healthcare and medicine. For example, by developing processes to make sustainable products such as biofuels or foods from biological resources, the manufacturing of vaccines and antibiotics, or the creation of medical and environmental technology solutions. This may also include developing new medicines using DNA technology or improving methods of drug delivery in order to improve healthcare for the population.

This programme includes a high proportion of practical work which provides valuable experience for your career. You'll be immersed in our research-intensive culture and will complete your own biotechnology-focused research project where you can work alongside our internationally respected research teams.

Modules

The aims of the module are: to develop competency in a range of practical research techniques used in microbiology, genetics and molecular biology relevant to biotechnology and biomedical engineering. to advance students knowledge and understanding of the laboratory practices associated with biotechnology and biomedical engineering research and to apply this knowledge to practical biological experiments.
