You will focus on the fundamentals of offshore, subsea and pipeline engineering and develop knowledge and skills in the following which are critical in the industry:

the dynamics of offshore installations
advanced structural design
marine risers, umbilicals and mooring lines
reliability and integrity management of marine systems

Our close industry links ensure you'll engage and network with key engineering companies as part of an enhanced learning journey.

Our industrial partners will teach you the key design and manufacturing skills required in the sector. You will also learn about operational methods by site visits to manufacturing facilities. These include:

design and manufacture of subsea umbilicals with TechnipFM
offshore pipeline and cable laying methods as well as subsea trench operations with Royal IHC
teaching of subsea valves with BEL Valves
design and manufacture of flexible risers with Baker Hughes

These site visits will enable you to put theory into practice, as well as enhance your industry networks.

Our course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) on behalf of the Engineering Council. This means that you are automatically recognised as satisfying the educational requirements leading to Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Entry requirements

A 2:2 honours degree, or international equivalent, in: civil engineering, mechanical engineering; naval architecture; offshore engineering ocean engineering; marine engineering; any other closely related discipline; Relevant professional experience is desirable, although not essential. We will consider your application on an individual basis if you have lower or non-standard qualifications and significant, relevant professional experience.
