  • Gain access to the latest advances of applied research and develop a thorough knowledge of market-based finance and financial law.
  • You will be taught by industry experts, many of whom advise and work with institutions including the World Bank, the IMF, the Bank of England, the European Union and the WTO.
  • Benefit from CCLS's Institute for Global Law, Economics and Finance (IGLEF), a forum for interdisciplinary study and research in the areas of law, economics and finance

What you'll study

You may choose one of three pathways for the Law and Finance PGCert:

  • Law and Finance
  • Banking and Financial Regulation
  • Mergers, Acquisitions and Corporate Finance Law

You will select from different relevant taught modules from both law and finance. You will also undertake independent original research for your dissertation, which will focus on an analysis of the law and finance.

You will have access to an unparalleled set of optional short courses to equip you with practical training and technical skills that are highly valued in the financial sector.

If you want to review or gain a broad understanding of financial and legal concepts, you can attend pre-sessional modules and have access to basic statistics and statistical software.

You will also have voluntary access to an excellent series of lectures in Critical Thinking and Writing in Law to help you improve your writing and research in law skills.

You can choose the appropriate level of study for you, as we also offer an MSc in Law and Finance and a Diploma in Law and Finance.

Career paths

This programme will enhance your career options by allowing you to specialise in the highly sought after interdisciplinary areas of law, economics and finance. There is a very high rate of employment of our students within six months of graduation. We have dedicated law careers advisers who organise events and internship opportunities with top UK and international law firms.

Modules

Primarily the course aims to contribute to a critical understanding of the subject matter through the combined study of theories of regulation in general and the corporate dynamics in particular, with a special focus on the different stakeholders involved in international corporate finance. The module will focus on providing an introduction to the different corporate financing options, methods and techniques, with special emphasis on the use of debt and equity. The course is strongly committed to presenting a global and comparative perspective highlighting the contemporary principles and international trends of corporate finance rather than the pointillist and ephemeral details of national rule books.
