Course Summary

Minimally Invasive Dentistry (MID) is a concept of patient care that deals with the causes of dental disease and not just the symptoms. The concept is based on all the factors that affect the onset and progression of disease and therefore integrates prevention, control and treatment. The field of MID is wide, including the detection of diseases as early as possible, the identification of risk factors (risk assessment) and the implementation of preventive strategies and health education for the patient. This DClinDent programme is unique in the UK and will expand your knowledge and skills in minimally invasive dentistry and provide an excellent preparation for your career and enhance your dental practice. The programme of study will be in line with the General Dental Council curriculum for Clinical Dentistry including selected components of Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. The programme addresses some of the leading global problems facing dentistry, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and other future emerging infectious disease threats and antimicrobial resistance. In addition, increasing average life expectancy means that dentists will need to treat more patients with complicated medical histories.
